Hotel du Cap Eden Roc

And so we arrive at the legendary Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, the most glamorous seriously upscale pleasure palace on the Riviera, the unofficial residence of most of the movie stars who attend the Cannes Film Festival, and an outpost of sophisticated charm and luxury that has no peer in reputation or effect.

Hotel du Cap stands like a baroque palace on the shores of Cap d'Antibe, set on 26 immaculate acres that give new meaning to opulent serenity.

Here we see the main Chateau of the hotel as seen from the pathway down to the seaside. Since 1870 the Hotel du Cap has been synonymous with the ultimate in Riviera luxury. This grand dame of hotels has played host to Picasso, Peggy Guggenheim, the Prince of Wales, Greta Garbo and the crowned heads of Europe. The Devil Dog is duly impressed.
For it is truly a magnificent property and a fabulous hotel. The main building, seen above, is but the half of it. A separate building, overlooking the ocean, houses the Eden Roc hotel part of Hotel du Cap Eden Roc. We shall take a look at that in later posts.
